Mentoring a Spiritually Younger Woman

The Titus 2 Women Prayer Wheel

As a devoted Christian woman, predestined to teach and train spiritually younger women, our personal walk with God magnifies our intimate relationship with Him. It is reflected in our obedience to His Word, how we express ourselves to others, through our godly behavior and our undeniable faith and reverence for our Lord. Consider using this Prayer Wheel to come humbly before the God of the Universe, bringing Him honor and glory as you care for the young women He’s placed alongside you.

1.PRAISE

Psalm 71:8,23

My mouth is filled with your praise,

Declaring your splendor all day long.

My lips will shout for joy

When I sing praise to you –

I whom you have delivered.

Let’s thank God for this time with Him, to be here in His presence; praise Him for how He is using you to further His kingdom, for entrusting you with the care of the younger women He has placed in your life and ask Him to bless you with eyes to see the women who are yet to come.

Praise God for the women in your life that have helped you grow spiritually. Reflect on the blessings that have come from these relationships, how these women have fanned the flame for you, encouraging and inspiring you to go out into the world and become a spiritual mentor yourself. What great reward it is to be used by God in this way. Thank you Lord!

2. WAITING

Psalm 143:8

Let the morning bring me word of

your unfailing love,

for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go,

for to you I entrust my life.

Spend this minute waiting on the Lord. Think about the things you want the Lord to do in and through your life as you devote yourself to spiritually mentoring a younger Christian woman. Maybe it is someone God has already placed in your life or He is about to send someone to you. Tell God how much you trust Him. Ask Him to show you the best way to minister to this woman.

We have been blessed with an important assignment, one that comes with great responsibility and reward. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you to do the Father’s will with gladness in your heart and joy on your lips. Thank You Father for using us to be part of Your work here on earth. May Christ be glorified by our words and actions.

3. CONFESSION

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful

and just to forgive us our sins and

to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Heavenly Father,

May the Holy Spirit show me any sin in my life that is holding me back from becoming a godlier, more biblical woman. May my life be lived authentically so young new Christians can be inspired and encouraged. Father, I want younger women who meet me to want my God to be their God!

I ask the Holy Spirit to bring my sins to the surface, so I can confess them and be cleansed, so I may be emptied and filled with your love and forgiveness, your mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen

4. READ THE WORD

2 Peter 1:5-7

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection.

Almighty Father,

May the divine presence of the Holy Spirit strengthen and shape me, growing within me the precious qualities of a godly woman. May I faithfully surrender my will to yours, Lord, so that You may be glorified.

May my life be a living sacrifice and my heart undivided. As your Word comes to life within me, may I be generous in sharing my faith and knowledge; may my self-control be heightened, my ability to persevere grow and my godliness and kindness reflect the transforming power of the Holy Spirit within me. May my mutual affection for my younger sisters in Christ be magnified so that as they grow in Christ they may feel your absolute and unconditional love. In Jesus’ strong name I pray, Amen.

5. PETITION

Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners.

Father,

The Spirit of Your Son, Jesus, rests upon me and lives within me. Anoint me, Lord, to proclaim the good news to the poor, to the brokenhearted, the broken in spirit. May Your love and forgiveness bring them freedom, and Your light release from darkness.

May the joy of the Lord and the confidence you have given me, help my young sisters in Christ to break free from their old ways. May the words of wisdom You give me encourage them to seek you with all their heart. Thank You Father for sending us Jesus. May we go forth, young sisters and old, sharing the good news. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

6. INTERCESSION

Psalm 119:9-11

How can a young person stay on the path of purity?

By living according to your word.

I seek you with all my heart;

do not let me stray from your commands.

I have hidden your word in my heart

that I might not sin against you.

Bless me Lord so I may bring hope and encouragement to those who struggle with leaving behind their old ways. Give me words and wisdom Lord, and eyes to see the needs of the young women you’ve entrusted to me, so I may intercede on their behalf. Help me to teach others by how I live my life, how to seek you with all of their heart, how to take your glorious word and hide it deep within their heart so that they may not sin against you. Help me to pray with them, not just for them, helping them to experience the joy of being in constant fellowship with You, through our Lord, Jesus Christ. The path of purity lays before us, Lord, may I walk this path with my sisters in Christ in godliness, bringing honor and glory to the King of kings, Jesus Christ.

7. PRAY THE WORD

Psalm 71:18

Even when I am old and gray,

do not forsake me, my God,

till I declare your power to the next generation,

your mighty acts to all who are to come.

Father,

Strengthen my faith, bless me with wisdom, as those you place in my life grow spiritually through our friendship. Give me roots Lord, which grow deeper into your word and truth so that out of your gospel, my behavior and words flow. May my lips declare your power to the next generation, the young women who you’ve given me, to nurture and lead by my own example. May my words and actions bring glory to You Lord. In Christ’s name I pray, Amen.

8. THANKSGIVING

1 Thessalonians 1:2

We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers.

If you’ve been blessed to have a younger woman or women to mentor spiritually, thank God right now for this amazing opportunity to teach and train them in how to live an authentic Christian life that honors God.

Pray for each woman by name, giving thanks to God for entrusting you with their care. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you pray for each one; He knows the Father’s will and will help you pray in accordance with the Father’s purpose and plan for each woman. Take a moment of silence in a prayer of thanksgiving.

9. SINGING

Psalm 95:1

O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.

Sing a song of praise; make one up or sing one of your favorites – let this be a time of praise!

10. MEDITATE

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Silently take a moment and ask the Lord to speak to you about your personal walk with Him and how He will prepare you to fulfill His plan for your life. Write down anything that comes to you. Acknowledge the precious Holy Spirit who is with you right now, and forever, who will teach you God’s ways. May we always have ears to hear Him and eyes to see what He shows us, in Your Word, Lord and in the world.

11. LISTEN

1 Samuel 3:9-10

Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”

Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Reflect on what you personally experienced as you prayed through the prayer wheel – a Scripture that spoke to your heart? A prayer the Holy Spirit is bringing to life inside of you? Something you thanked God for personally? An unconfessed sin? A message in the song you sang? Then put them all together and listen to how the Lord brings them together to speak to you personally.

12. END WITH PRAISE

Psalm 86:12

I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;

I will glorify your name forever.

Spend your last minute of the prayer wheel and praise our heavenly Father. Offer up to God in a concert of praise, your thankfulness; maybe for what He has revealed to you during this time of prayer. Praise Him for the courage and wisdom He gives you to share the gospel and nurture your spiritually younger sisters. Look at the women around you, friend, family or stranger and see through Christ’s eyes their need. The Father has given us everything we need by the power of the Holy Spirit, who lives inside of you and me, to equip and empower us to go out into the world and love and guide our sisters-in-Christ. Don’t be surprised if the Holy Spirit brings into your life someone who will encourage and guide you! We all need our flame fanned so that we can continue to grow and bring glory to God and His Son, Jesus Christ. God bless you; you are amazing. May the flame inside of you become a roaring holy fire that burns so intensely, that your sparks begin lighting fires in the hearts of those around you. How glorious to be on fire for the Lord.
